Colin Peel (Australia) Residence: September 2018

My Professional life for 40 years was in Science and Business with my main hobby being painting. Since retirement I have been able to more fully participate in the art world as a Practising Artist, in Art Societies, and now also as a Teacher of Water Colour painting.

I have been on the Council and Treasurer of the Australian Guild of Realistic Artists

Currently on the Committee of the Water Colour Society of Victoria

Member of the Victorian Arts Society

Teaching at University of the Third Age (U3A) —Short Courses on Water Colour painting

I have had one Solo Exhibition in my home town where 33 paintings were sold and the money donated to the arts community in the town.

In 2017 I had residencies in May and October at Studio Kura in Itoshima, Japan.

In my current residency at Arts Itoya I wish to continue plein air painting capturing the daily life of the community. I also hope to take these sketches and further develop into perhaps more abstract representations in the studio. I experiment with different papers and surfaces including Yupo in my water colour work.

Some of my paintings are posted at;
