On the 25th-26th May 2019, Cai Jun Lee had an exhibition.
“Sky Island Forest”
Cai Jun worked on the Sky Island series. It’s about a fantastical place based on collections of mythology, fairy tale and folklore stories that record the existence of this legendary heaven realm. She adapt symbolical imagery and motif from these stories, revised and fused with modern pop cultures.
This installation, Sky Island Forest was inspired by the sacred ancient Camphor trees, shrines and mountains around this vicinity and also reference from the Japanese folklore about the kodama. The space aims to blur the perceptual boundaries between reality and fiction of art, and let the imaginary state becomes the moment of consciousness.
Thank you Cai Jun!
We hope we can see you again in the near future!
