Arts Itoyaでの滞在中、Joshuaは山々の風景に見られる質感的な要素を調査し、デジタルイメージを物理的なオブジェクトへと変換する方法を探ります。また、この地域の陶芸技法について学びながら、彫刻的表現やイメージを用いた介入的な作品制作を試みる予定です。
Joshua Catanzariti is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist who pushes the boundaries of creative expression. Based between Japan and Australia his practice is a journey of exploration, fuelled by residencies that immerse him in diverse techniques and mediums. This experimental approach leads to a fusion of styles, incorporating elements of painting, digital imagery, collage, and sculpture.
Joshua is strongly influenced by architecture, art, and design, adding a layers through thoughtful composition. His connection to nature and the interplay between the natural world and the built environment deeply shape his artistic thinking. Inviting viewers to challenge their perceptions of the world around them, blurring the lines between abstraction, lived experience, and dreamscapes.
His art delves into the power of spatial design and its ability to influence our emotions, thoughts, and the way we interact with our surroundings, both real and imagined.
During his time at Arts Itoya, Joshua intends to investigate textural elements of the mountainous landscape and how to transform digital imagery into physical objects. He will use his time learning about the ceramic techniques from the region and experiment with sculptural and image based interventions.
