ARTS ITOYAでは、Sachiko Odashimaによる滞在制作発表展「Great Camphor Tree at Takeo」を開催します！１か月のレジデンス期間を通してSachikoが制作した最新作を展示いたします。

以下アーティストからのメッセージです。

これまで風景画を中心に描いてきました。最近はとりわけ古木に強い関心を抱いています。長い年月を生き抜いてきた木々がたたえる存在感や、その奥に感じられる畏怖の念に心を動かされています

特に　ここ武雄では　大楠の木の枝の広がり方や、幹の朽ち方、そこに宿る苔や地衣類に強く惹かれます。

それらを色んな角度から写真を撮り
スタジオで制作します。
見る対象は実際の物ですが　その通りに描く興味はなく
自分の目を通し表現します。

I have primarily worked on landscape paintings. Recently , however, my interest has turned toward ancient trees.

I am deeply moved by their enduring presence and the sense of awe that comes from

the long passage of time they embody.

Here in Takeo, I hope to focus on painting camphor trees found at local shrine.

I’m fascinated by the shapes of tree branches, the way trunks decay, and the mosses or lichens that grow on them.

I photograph these subjects from many different angles and later develop the work in my studio.

Although the objects I observe are real, I’m not interested in depicting them exactly as they are.
I reinterpret and express them through my own perception and sensibility.
