アンジェリカ（she/her）は、シンガポール出身のアーティストで、主に写真とアーティストブックを制作
しています。彼女の芸術的実践は、時間・言語・物質性・スローアートを中心に展開されています。一日
の影の長さの変化、月や潮の満ち引き、線香の燃え尽きなど、時間の指標に関心を持ち、時間がどのよう
に感じられ、経験されるのかを表現しようとしています。時間の流れが、同時に宇宙的な規模と人間的な
規模を持つこと、そして自然の大きな現象でありながら、我々の日常生活と密接に絡み合うことを、どの
ように表現できるのか。
アンジェリカは、自然や日常の中からイメージを探し、親密で日常的な出来事と、宇宙を決定づける大き
な循環とを重ね合わせています。また、作品の一部では、写真に言葉を組み合わせ、時間の微細な流れや
自然の繊細な身振りへの気づきを促します。たとえば、彼女は一冊の写真集を『霜の声』と名付け、冬の
夜に大地を覆う霜のささやきを辿りながら、寒さの厳しい日に葉の表面をうっすらと覆う霜の気配をも呼
び起こしています。
さらに、アンジェリカは自身のシンガポール育ちの多文化的な背景を反映し、複数の言語を作品に取り入
れ、英語以外の言語も英語と同じようにアートの領域に存在し、日常的なものであることを示しています
。
彼女の作品は、シカゴ美術館附属美術大学（SAIC）のSITE Sharp Gallery（シカゴ）、FLOOR_（ソウル
）、DECK Photography Art Centre（シンガポール）などで個展・グループ展として発表されています。作
品は、オハイオ州立大学図書館、バージニア・コモンウェルス大学ジェームズ・ブランチ・キャベル図書
館特別コレクション＆アーカイブ、ブリンマー大学特別コレクションなどに収蔵されています。アーティ
ストブックは、香港フォトブックフェスティバル（香港）、Tropic Bound（マイアミ）、New Editions（
ミネアポリス）、コロンバス・アートブックフェア（コロンバス）など、数々のブックフェアにも出品さ
れています。
2024年には、アンジェリカはミネソタ・センター・フォー・ブック・アーツ（MCBA）プライズのセミフ
ァイナリストに選出され、茨城のARCUS Projectにアーティスト・イン・レジデンスとして参加しました
。また、彼女はシンガポール美術館のアシスタント・キュレーターを務め、最新のキュレーションプロジ
ェクトは展覧会『オラファー・エリアソン: Your curious journey』（2024年）と『SAMコンテンポラリー
ズ: How To Dream Worlds』（2025年）です。彼女はシカゴ美術館附属美術大学（SAIC）にてBFAを取得
しました。

Angelica Ong
(she/her, Singaporean artist)
Angelica works primarily in photography and artist books. In her practice, she focuses on time, language, materiality, and slow art.
She is interested in the indexes of time—for example, the lengths of shadows across a day, lunar and tidal cycles, or the depletion of incense—and attempts to convey how time is felt and experienced. Her central question is: How does one express time’s passing as simultaneously cosmic and human in scale, as a natural phenomenon that is vast but also an experience that is closely entwined with everyday life?
Angelica often seeks images in nature and the everyday, intertwining intimate, daily occurrences with the larger cycles that govern the universe. In some of her work, she merges images with words that heighten awareness of the micromovements of time’s passing and nature’s subtle gestures. For example, she titled one of her photo books 「霜の声」 (The Murmur of Frost), which traces the quiet coating of frost across the land on a winter night, while also evoking the light dusting of frost on leaves during very cold days.
She also frequently incorporates multiple languages into her work, drawing on her upbringing in Singapore’s multicultural society. This multilingual approach makes the simultaneous presence of non-English languages more routine within the realm of art.
Angelica has exhibited work in solo and group shows at School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) SITE Sharp Gallery (Chicago), FLOOR_ (Seoul), DECK Photography Art Centre (Singapore), amongst others.
Her work is in the permanent collections of the Ohio State University Libraries, the James Branch Cabell Library Special Collections and Archives at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Bryn Mawr College Special Collections, and more. Her artist books have featured in multiple fairs, including the Hong Kong Photobook Festival (Hong Kong), Tropic Bound (Miami), New Editions (Minneapolis), Columbus Art Book Fair (Columbus), and more.
