Yelin Lee (イ・イェリン)は、ソウルを拠点に活動するグラフィックデザイン出身のアーティストです。これまでコンピュータの画面上で図形や記号を緻密に扱ってきましたが、現在はそれらの視覚的記号を画面の外、つまり物理的な環境へと移行させることに深い関心を寄せています。

作家は、デジタルインターフェースに閉じ込められていた絵文字や変容されたイメージの羅列を、現実の空間（Space）へと解き放ち、観客がそれらを実在する作品として遭遇するような実験的な試みを行っています。観客は物理的な空間の中で、馴染みがありながらもどこか異質な視覚記号と向き合うことになります。これは、私たちが日常的に使用している視覚言語が、現代文化をどのように共有し、記録しているのかを問い直す対話の起点となります。

Arts Itoyaでのレジデンス期間中、Yelin Leeはデジタル由来の記号が武雄の歴史的・自然的な風景とどのように相互作用するかを観察します。仮想の記号と物理的な実在の間の境界を埋め、レジデンス特有の環境の中でデジタルな物語をどのように具現化できるかを探求する予定です。

Yelin Lee is a Seoul-based artist with a solid foundation in graphic design. Her practice has long been centered on the meticulous manipulation of geometric shapes and symbols within the digital screen; however, she is currently shifting her focus toward transitioning these signs into the physical environment.

By liberating emoticons and fragmented images—once confined to the digital interface—into three-dimensional space, she conducts experiments that transform screen-based visuals into tangible encounters. In her work, the audience confronts visual symbols that feel simultaneously familiar and uncanny within a physical context. This exploration serves as both a starting point and a question regarding how the visual languages we use today share and document contemporary culture.

During her residency at Arts Itoya, Yelin aims to further this inquiry by observing how digital-born symbols interact with the local landscape and stories of Takeo. She seeks to bridge the gap between virtual signs and physical reality, exploring new ways to manifest digital narratives within the unique atmosphere of the residency environment.
