Cindy Kangは韓国・ソウル出身で、現在ニューヨークを拠点に活動するアーティスト／イラストレーターです。ニューヨークのSchool of Visual ArtsでイラストレーションのBFA（学士号）を取得。これまでに、エディトリアル、広告、出版など幅広い分野のクライアントに向けて作品を制作してきました。彼女の作品は、World Illustration Awards、American Illustration、Society of Illustratorsなどでも評価されています。
彼女は「子ども時代」からインスピレーションを得て作品を制作しており、幼い頃の体験や好奇心、想像力の視点を通して物語を紡ぎます。子どもや子どものような視点をしばしば作品に登場させながら、共感や思いやりを大切にし、小さな存在が歩む静かで意味のある旅路に光を当てています。
レジデンス期間中には、「Journey」というシリーズ作品に取り組む予定です。
このプロジェクトは、彼女自身の子ども時代と再びつながるための絵画シリーズであり、家の安全な場所を離れて「Tree（木）」へ向かう少女の旅を描きながら、人生のルールや真実を見つけていく物語です。柔らかな質感、穏やかな色彩、そしてミクストメディアを用いながら、彼女はまるで子どもの頃の日記のような視覚的物語を紡ぎます。それは、さまざまな描写の痕跡や重ねられたテクスチャーを通して、経験や感情を探求できる「安心できる場所」を表現するものです。

Cindy Kang is a New York-based artist and illustrator from Seoul, South Korea. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in Illustration, she has created artworks for a diverse array of clients in editorial, advertising, and publishing. Her work has been recognized by World Illustration Awards, American Illustration, and the Society of Illustrators, among others.
She creates art inspired by childhood, exploring and telling stories through the lens of early experiences, curiosity, and imagination. Often featuring children or childlike perspectives, her work values empathy and compassion, drawing attention to the small ones and their quiet but meaningful journeys.
During the residency, she will work on her project “Journey,” a series of paintings reconnecting her with her own childhood, following a girl who steps beyond the safety of home toward the Tree to discover the rules and truths of life. Through soft textures, a gentle palette, and mixed media, she creates visual narratives that feel like a childhood diary—a safe space to explore experiences and emotions through various mark-making and layered textures.
