Halfway through his year-long Japan Artist in Residence trip, Scottish-Australian artist Erlend Cross (@e.rlend) will spend two months working at the Arts Itoya studio.
Takeo’s ‘spirit of place’: its balance of human and nature, infrastructure and life, will be the focus of the upcoming works.
His background in Urban and Cultural Geography forms the basis for this series of abstract works on shoji and washi paper. Erlend uses Japanese materials including sumi ink, kakishibu dye and konjac paste.
