私はニューサウスウェールズ州オレンジ出身のオーストラリアのアーティストです。自分は自然界における人間の体験に興味を持っており、「他者性」を理解しようと試みています。それは、人間と非人間の世界との間のインターフェイスです。また、時間の概念にも非常に興味を持っています。
私の作品は主にドローイングベースであり、紙にラファイト、鉛筆、木炭など、ドローイングにしばしば関連付けられる材料を使用しています。また、紙の縫い付け、折り目、裂け目、布やその他の材料の追加など、伝統的でないマークメイキングの技法で制作しています。
ARTSITOYAでのこのレジデンス期間中、私は以前探求してきたテーマを基に、自分の実践をより実験的な方向に押し進めたいと考えています。この場所の豊かな自然界だけでなく、伝統的な日本の材料やマークメイキングにも目を向けて調査を進めることに興味を持っています。
Victoria Lovecchio
I am an Australian artist from Orange in NSW. I am interested in the human experience of the natural world, trying to make sense of an ‘otherness’, that interface between the human and non-human worlds. I am also very interested in concepts of time.
My work is principally drawing-based, working on and with paper, using materials often associated with drawing such as graphite, pencil, and charcoal. I also employ less traditional mark-making strategies such as stitching, folding and tearing of the paper, adding fabric and other materials.
During this residency at Arts Itoya I want to build on the themes I have previously explored and push my practice in more experimental directions. I am keen to investigate not only the abundant natural world of this location, but also look at traditional Japanese materials and mark-making.
