ヤナイ・ペリは、絵本の執筆、イラストレーション、コミック、そして中心的には人形劇など、多様な芸術表現を手がけるアーティストです。現在は、新しく制作した人形「老人」とともに、パフォーマンスのプロセスを探求することに重点を置いています。このレジデンス期間中、ヤナイは地元の文化に深く浸り、出会う物や道具、日々の行動からインスピレーションを得ながら、「老人」の物語的表現や存在感を広げる新たなパフォーマンスの状況や関わりを生み出していくことを目指しています。
Yanai Peri works across diverse artistic mediums, including writing children’s books, illustration, comics, and, most centrally, puppet theatre. His current practice is focused on developing a performative process with a newly created puppet “The Old Man”. During this residency, Yanai intends to immerse himself in the local culture, drawing inspiration from the objects, tools, and daily actions he encounters. His goal is to generate new performative situations and interactions for the Old Man, allowing the residency environment to inform and expand the puppet’s narrative vocabulary and presence.
